Send a broadcast or email campaign
Send the same message to many members through the channel you choose. It takes about 10 minutes.
Before you start
- Broadcast: permissions Broadcasts, Creating Broadcast and Sending Broadcast · Edition: Growth or Enterprise (Broadcasts feature).
- Email campaign: permissions Email Campaigns and Sending Email Campaign · Edition: all.
- An active channel and, if you use a segment, make sure it has been created.
Option A: a broadcast
1. Create the broadcast
Go to Marketing › Messaging › Broadcasts and click Create New. Create New Broadcast opens.
- Enter the Name (internal) and choose the Channel.
- Choose the Content Type: Message, Challenge Invite, Game Invite, Reward Promo or Campaign Promo. The last four ask you to pick the challenge, game, reward or campaign.
- Write the Subject and the Body, or choose a Message Template to replace them. Markdown and the variables
{{FirstName}},{{LastName}}and{{Phone}}are supported. - Choose the Target Type: All Members, By Segment or Individual Members. For the last one, enter the Member IDs separated by commas.
- To send later, switch on Schedule for later and set Scheduled Date & Time.
- Save.
The broadcast is left as Draft, or as Scheduled if you gave a future date.
2. Review and send
- Check the text preview next to the message box.
- In the list, open Actions › Send Now (untranslated).
- Confirm the prompt showing the number of recipients.

Once it is Sending, the messages go out and can't be recalled. Check the channel, the text and the recipients before confirming.
Option B: an email campaign
- Go to Marketing › Messaging › Email Campaigns and click Create New.
- Fill in Name, Subject and Body (HTML). Optionally, Preheader Text and Plain Text Body (optional).
- Include
{{UnsubscribeUrl}}in the body. Without it, the campaign can't be sent. - Choose the Segment. Empty = All active members.
- Set Scheduled At, or leave it empty to send it by hand with Actions › Send Now.
Who receives the message
- Only active members.
- Promotional broadcasts (Game Invite, Reward Promo, Campaign Promo) only reach those who accepted marketing. Message and Challenge Invite are service messages.
- Quiet hours and the daily per-member limit are respected.
- A promotional email broadcast needs
{{UnsubscribeUrl}}in the text or in the template.
Check that it works
- Under Marketing › Messaging › Broadcasts, the Status goes from Sending to Sent. The Recipients / Sent / Failed columns show the result.
- If there are failures, open Marketing › Messaging › Communication Errors.
- For Scheduled, you can Cancel before the time.
