Set up a points programme

Create a programme where your members earn points, move up tiers and redeem them for prizes. It takes about 20 minutes.

Before you start

• Permissions: Loyalty programmes, Tiers, Earning rules and Rewards (with their create permissions). See Roles and permissions.
• Edition: tiers are not available on Free. The number of programmes depends on your edition.
• Sign in with a customer account, not as a host administrator.

1. Create the programme

Go to Members & Programmes › Programmes and click Create New.

1. Enter the Name, for example Coffee Club.
2. Under Points Currency, enter what your points are called, for example Stars.
3. Under Features, tick Points (and Stamps or Cashback if you will use them).
4. If you want them to expire, fill in Expiration Days. Empty means they don't expire.
5. Leave the Status as Draft and save.

2. Define the tiers

Go to Members & Programmes › Tiers and click Create New for each step:

Choose the Loyalty Programme on each one and tick Is Default on the Bronze tier. New members start there.

tip

Points are measured over the last 12 months. A member who goes inactive can drop a tier.

3. Create the earning rules

Go to Transactions & Points › Earning rules and click Create New.

Tick Active on all of them. IncentIA adds up the points from every matching rule and then applies the tier multiplier. More in Earning rules.

4. Publish the rewards

Go to Rewards › Catalogue and click Create New. For each prize, fill in Name, Reward Type, Points Cost, Stock and the Loyalty Programme. Use Min Tier Level if you want to reserve a prize for a tier.

If you need limits per redemption, create a rule under Transactions & Points › Burning Rules with Min Points Required or Max Points per Redemption. See Burning rules and Catalogue.

5. Activate the programme

Go back to Programmes, open Actions › Edit and change the Status to Active. Until then the programme is a draft.

6. Add your first members

Follow Import and invite members. For testing, create one by hand with Create New under Members & Programmes › Members.

7. Give them points for a purchase

Points are earned when a purchase or an action happens. These are the routes:

• A campaign with a receipt: the member uploads the receipt and, once approved, receives the points.
• A connected online store: every order earns points.
• Your own API integration: see Integrations.

The Transactions screen is read-only: you will see the result there, but you can't create purchases.

Check that it works

• Under Transactions & Points › Transactions, an Earn row appears with the expected points.
• Under Members, the test member's Balance has gone up.
• When a prize is redeemed it appears under Rewards › Redemptions and the balance goes down.
