How it fits together

A game defines the type of mechanic, its prizes and its limits. You then pick it in a campaign. The result is always calculated on the server, so the participant cannot alter the prize they win.

List

There is a search box (Search...) and the Refresh button.

ColumnWhat it isNotes

The Actions menu on each row offers Edit, Play (only with the game Active, to test it) and Delete.

Create / edit

Click Create New. When creating you only see the settings tab. When editing, three tabs appear: Settings, Visual Design and Preview. These three names are always shown in English.

External runs an HTML5 game that you upload yourself: see External games.

Settings by type

  • Wheel (SpinTheWheel, PrizeWheel): in Visual Design, Wheel Segments appears, with the text and colour of each segment. Sync with Prizes copies the prizes as segments and Add Segment adds one manually.
  • Scratch card (ScratchCard): in Visual Design, Scratch Card Design offers Overlay Colour, Background Colour, the scratch (foil) image and the prize image.
  • Pop it (PopIt): Grid Cols, Grid Rows, Time Limit (sec) and Win Threshold.
  • Spot the Difference (SpotDifference): Image A URL, Image B URL and Time Limit (sec).
  • Trivia (TriviaQuiz): the Trivia variants panel has Time limit per question (sec), Lives allowed (sudden-death) and Passing score. All are optional. This form does not include a question editor.
  • Runner (Runner): an endless-runner game included in the platform. It needs an associated game bundle. Its Public leaderboard panel lets you publish a ranking with first name and the initial of the surname.
  • All types with a design: Custom Labels lets you change Game Title (in PWA) and Subtitle (by default the game's name is used).

Prizes

Prizes are added when editing the game, in the Prizes section. Click Add prize and fill in:

The prizes table also shows Current wins (how many have been awarded), Prize Pool Tier and Active. In Win screen content you can customise Title, CTA button label, CTA button URL and Body (HTML).

States and limits

  • Probabilities. The server picks a prize by adding the probabilities in order. A prize with probability 0 never comes up. Distribute them so they add up to 100%.
  • Stock. When a prize reaches Max wins, it drops out of the draw and the others take its place. Awards are counted atomically, so two simultaneous plays cannot exceed the stock.
  • Consolation. If the draw ends up with no prize, the prize marked as consolation is awarded, if one exists.
  • Statuses. Only an Active game can be tested with Play and used in campaigns. Paused and Archived withdraw it without deleting it.
tip

Always include a NoPrize prize with a high probability to control the cost. A common distribution is 60–70% no prize and the rest split among the prizes.

warning

Work out the cost before launching. With 10,000 plays and 30% of them winning, you need budget for 3,000 prizes.
